Since I was not going to travel to Melbourne, I chose to attend the convocation in KL. It was an intimate but beautiful ceremony. Those graduating with PhD were treated like VIPs with special holding room, before and after the ceremony, front row seats for their guests and the graduates on the stage during the ceremony. For me it was extremely meaningful as I was able to share this moment with my whole family.
Follow my adventures and misadventures as I soar through life. I hope the landing gear is working!

Happy 37th Birthday
Happy Birthday 37th birthday Sayang. I'm so happy that we're able to celebrate your birthday together. The last time we're together to celebrate a birthday was in 2008 when Zade turned 1.
All set for brunch at home
Ready to eat
Zade and Danial happily tucking in the food
Zade's ready to blow the candle. Now he ends up blowing candles eventhough it's not his birthday
And he'll end up opening the presents
Another cake at Nenek's house
This time it's chocolate cake
And again with the candles
Yummy

Easter Morning Tea at Numdaji Kwei
Today I was invited to join Zade for morning tea at Numdaji Kwei. It was in conjuntion with Easter which will be celebrated this weekend. When I came by around 9.30 am, most other parents in the babies room were already there. Zade was excited to see me again so soon after I dropped him off this morning. While Zade and his friends were having their vegemite and cheese toast with sultanas, the parents were served with hot cross bun and o.j. Very nice as it was served warm with some butter. After tea, I spent some time reading and playing with Zade outside in the playground. I left around 10.30 am and head back to the office.

Alyssa's Birthday Party at Wriggle It
Zade received an invitation to Alyssa's birthday party at the Wriggle It Play Centre. Alyssa is May and Tien's daughter. She turns 4 today. The party started at 2 pm, but we went after Zade woke up from his nap. We arrived around 3 pm, just in time for snacks and birthday cake. Zade and I gave Alyssa a Barbie musical box which we got from Target the week before. There were a lot of familiar faces there. Keanne and Layan from Unimews, Joshua and Justin were there too. I had a chance to catch up with the moms. After cake, Zade had fun chasing balls and running around the playground. We left with a ggody bag filled with lollies, toy and balloon.

AIAC13 and the Avalon Airshow
The AIAC13 was held at the Melbourne Convention Centre on the 10th and 11th of MArch 2009. I presented a poster for the UAV Conference. I would say it was a mid size conference as I've participated in a bigger one in Malaysia. What I found interesting was that researchers from DSTO presented their findings in this conference. It is highly unlikely for a similar organisation in Malaysia to allow any research findings to leak out.

I was supposed to attend the Avalon Airshow as the entrance ticket was included in the conference registration. The conference organiser provided shuttle to the airshow but the last one leaves at 9 am from the MCC. Since I couldn't get there in time, I decided to take the Vline to Lara. I bought a roundtrip ticket but due to an unfortunate incident, I wasn't able to go. Stephen did go and took some nice pics for me.

All photos from the Airshow are from Stephen. Thanks.

Hari Raya Aidiladha
This year we celebrated Aidiladha in Gombak. It's usually a low key event, but it was good to be with family and eat lots of raya food. Kak Long was around which made it even better. Too bad we didn't get to take lots of pics cause couldn't get everyone together at the same time. But I did managed to get a few.

Zade's 1st Birthday
Today marks a milestone in Zade's life. He is one year old today. It felt like only yesterday I first held him in my arms. We had a lovely time celebrating this wonderful day with family in Gombak. I ordered a Thomas cake and lamb mendey for this occasion.

Eid in Melbourne
This year, I celebrated Syawal with Mama and Zade in Bundoora. It was low key but great fun and not as tiring as it would be back home in Malaysia. We cooked the traditional dishes such as rendang daging, ayam masak merah, kari kambing, nasi minyak, nasi himpit, kuah kacang and lontong. We also managed to bake some cookies and cookies. On the 1st day we just ate raya food and took some pics. Zade looked rather handsome in his baju melayu.

On the second day, I invited my friends from uni over to celebrate eid with us.

Later in the evening my neighbours in unimews came over. Zade was happy having his friends over. We all had fun eating and talking all nite.

Niza was not around the first week of Syawal. When she finally came back from Sydney, we invited her and Qistina over for raya dinner.
