Numdaji Kwei

Zade has been accepted at Numdaji Kwei after being on the waiting list for 4 months. It is a non-profit community based child care centre at RMIT East Campus. Initially I intended to send Zade there next year, but I was told that I might lose the spot if I didn't take it now. The fee is AUD 38 for half a day, AUD 59 for full day and AUD 250for a week. I didn't really want to send Zade there just yet because I think his far too young, but I desperately need to secure the place for next year. So I decided to go ahead and booked for half a day each Monday.

We started with a three day orientation. On the first day Zade and I was shown around the centre and met all the staff. We were introduced to the carers in the babies room where Zade will be placed. Leigh Ann and Rose were very nice and friendly. On the second a day, I stayed with Zade for lunch. I requested halal food for Zade, and there wasn't any problem as they provide halal food for other muslim children there as well. They try to cater for different types of dietery requirements. On the last day, I left Zade for an hour and waited in the staff lounge. The orientation went well.

However, when I left him for his first day, he cried and clinged to me. It was just so heartbreaking. He was still crying on and off when I called an hour later. I left him there for only a few hours. When I came back to pick him up he just cried out for me. I'm really sorry Zade. I hope it will get better in time.

Neezam and Julie invited us to join them for dinner at Alamaro's in Coburg. The food and ambience there was quite nice. Maybe we'll go there again when Danial comes to visit.


The lasagna was just ok, I've had better.

Car

After a week of searching I finally got myself a new baby, a 1996 Ford Mondeo. We tried looking at trading post but no luck. Then we tried used car dealers along Plenty Road near Preston. We found a car which suited our budget. After a little bargaining we paid AUD4200 for the car which included RWC, Rego for another 11 months and one year spare part warranty. I think it's a pretty good deal.

University Mews

This is our new home. It's small but quite comfortable. I like the fact that it has security access. For new students coming from overseas, I would highly reccommend this place. I booked from Malaysia, and came straight here from the airport. It's fully furnished which makes life easier. The rent is slightly expensive but I think it's worth it.

D' Tasik Seafood Bangi

I read a review on D'Tasik in the Star newspaper during my maternity leave. Wanting to eat good seafood before leaving Malaysia, I decided to give it a try. It must be pretty good since it landed a spot in the paper. I'm quite adventurous when it comes to food, so I invited my in-laws to join us for dinner there.

It's located inside the UNITEN Campus, behind the Residence Hotel. We went on a weekday night, so it was not surprising that there wasn't a big crowd, which was nice. I was looking forward to a quiet dinner so that I could enjoy the food and the company of my family. The restaurant is actually built a lake, hence the name. During the course of the night, we were entertained by strollers, which was nice and made the atmosphere more relaxing.

We had sweet and sour fish (I'm not sure which kind though), butter prawn which was my favourite, sotong goreng tepung, tom yam, beancurd and fried kailan. Everything turned out quite delicious, especially the prawns, which made me really happy and satisfied. Customers also had the choice to pick their own seafood, but I just ask the really nice and friendly waitress to pick for me. And there's a range of special concoction to quench your thirst. The special ice kacang looked awesome, but it didn't really tast that great. I had one of their special juice which was not so bad, though I've forgotten the name.

We finished off almost everything. I was so full, that I didn't have any dessert :(. Maybe next time. The whole dinner for 7 adults came to less than RM200 which is a really good deal. I'll give it a four star rating.

Welcome to the World Baby Boy

Alhamdulillah, I've delivered a baby boy on the 8th of November 2007 at 12.30 am. The delivery was quite traumatic which ended with an emergency ceasarean. I am so thankful that he is ok now. No words can describe hoe I feel. I feel like the luckiest mother in the world.
